Universal Reminder

I always welcome experiences that remind me that the Creator/Universe provides when ready – not always when we want something. I started Solar Publishing in 2006 and published 2 books that year. I anticipated publishing more titles the next year and so forth. However, due to financial circumstances; running the business part time; and other life events, I have not published another book yet. Luckily, my partner Zaccai and I have still been engaged with children and schools as a result of our first two books.

My first book, My Mom Hugs Trees was so special to me because my illustrator started working on it as she entered her first pregnancy. As many of you may know, pregnancy is a time of heightened awareness, enriched creativity, and a connection to the unseen. I feel Vidya’s pregnant state is clearly evident in the illustrations. In fact, I didn’t say much about what I wanted and yet the illustrations were so perfectly attuned to what I envisioned.

So here it is 2009 and I have been working on My Mom Eats Tofu since 2007 and I finally sent Vidya a copy of the text in January. I said okay I am finally ready for you to begin illustrating. To my surprise, my awe, Vidya told me it was perfect timing – “I’m pregnant again!” Hence, my gentle reminder that it was not meant for me to finish this book any sooner!
